From May 8 to 13, the 2023 National University Judo Championship and the Trials for the Chinese Judo Team for the 31st Summer World University Games, hosted by China University Sports Association, concluded in Tangshan Jiujiang Sports Center, Hebei Province. The competition attracted 39 teams from all over the country, with a total of 478 participants. The judo team of Chengdu Sport University was led by Associate Professor Li Ming and coached by teacher Zhu Ya. A total of 16 athletes were selected to participate in the competition.
The competition has four categories: A, B, C, and D. In the C and D divisions, the Chengdu Sport University judo team competed. Students from CDSU received three gold, six silver, two bronze, and twice fifth-place awards in the tough competition. In addition, with outstanding performance, CDSU student Qing Daga has earned the privilege to represent the Chinese judo team at the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games after the comprehensive evaluation of earning international tournament points and domestic and other competition performances.
