National Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Base Is Set up at CDSU

At the rhythmic gymnastics competition of  the 31st Summer World University Games held in Chengdu, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Team of Chengdu Sport University ("CDSU")  represented the team of China and achieved excellent results of two gold medals and one silver medal.

While good news continued to be heard from the competition venue, there was also delightful news outside the venue. On August 2, the grand unveiling ceremony of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Base was held at CDSU. Distinguished guests, including Miao Zhongyi, Director, and Feng Yujuan, Deputy Director of the Gymnastics Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, Sun Dan, Head Coach of China National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, Chen Xingdong, Member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director of Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sports, Shu Weiping, Secretary of the Party Committeeof Chengdu Sport University, and Pan Xiaofei, President of Chengdu Sport University, and members of China National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, attended the unveiling ceremony.

Rhythmic gymnastics is atraditional strength of CDSU. In 1988, CDSU established its own rhythmic gymnastics team, which was the first artistic gymnastics team among universities in China.

Over the past 30 years, the team has participated in major domestic and international competitions, winning nearly 700 gold, silver, and bronze medals. They have also trained eight international-level athletes, continuously developing talents for China's rhythmic gymnastics. Students such as Huang Zhangjiayang, Xiao Mingxin, Pu Yanzhu, Zhang Xinyi, and Zhao Yue are all current members of the national team.

CDSU has been awarded the title of "National Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Base" by the Gymnastics Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, which acknowledges CDSU's dedication to the development of rhythmic gymnastics and talent cultivation for the nation. It further promotes the integration of sports and education, contributes to the nurturing and shaping of China National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, and lays a solid foundation for the development of high-level rhythmic gymnastics athletes.

Shu Weiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of CDSU, stated in his speech that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Team of CDSU has won 147 gold medals, 147 silver medals, and 137 bronze medals in major domestic and international competitions. They have trained and delivered a large number of outstanding athletes for the country, and have become an important driving force in the development of the national rhythmic gymnastics program. The establishment of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Base at CDSU will further promote the deepening and solidification of CDSU's rhythmic gymnastics program in terms of teaching and training.

In the future, CDSU will further leverage its medical technology service capabilities to ensure high-level training for the China National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team. It will actively promote collaborative partnerships to foster the development of rhythmic gymnastics. Additionally, CDSU will utilize its teaching staff advantages to carry out specialized rhythmic gymnastics talent development programs through cooperation with other universities. CDSU will further enhance the training model in collaboration with provincial teams, seizing the significant opportunity presented by the establishment of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Base. In order to realize the Olympic dream of rhythmic gymnastics and contribute to the construction of a strong sports nation and province, CDSU will strive to make new and greater contributions.
