On December 12, at the invitation of Yunnan Shanghe Culture Sports Co., Ltd., CDSU, the training base of SCO Marathon, sent Jiang Ping, an international track and field referee from the Department of Track & Field and Swimming, to participate in the organization of SCO Kunming Marathon 2021, who was highly recognized and praised by Mr. Shui Tao, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Athletics Association, and Chairman Ms. Zhang Qin and General Manager Mr. Zhang Wei of Yunnan Shanghe Culture Sports Co., Ltd. for his positive working attitude and professional quality. SCO expressed its expectation to deeper cooperation with CDSU in a wider range of areas such as marathon organizing in SCO member countries and training of marathon practitioners.
The SCO Kunming Marathon kicked off at the Dianchi Caohai Dam in Kunming, with its starting-gun-firing ceremony joined by the Deputy Secretary-General of SCO, ambassadors, and representatives of countries including Armenia and Mongolia, the Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, the Mayor of Kunming City, the Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Athletics Association, and the Director of Yunnan Province Sports Bureau, among other leaders. At this event, the SCO “Shanghai Spirit” is vigorously elevated and forms a synergy with the spirit of sports in the context of the Internet age to enhance the good-neighborliness among SCO member states to make friendships “closer and more harmonious”.
On November 9, 2021, CDSU was selected as the training base for the SCO Marathon, which will help attain international standards in training applied sports talents through high-level cooperation with international sports organizations. It is not only conducive to the building of Chengdu into an “event city”, but also injects a constant impetus for the school to take the development of physical education and training, sports medicine, and other disciplines to the next level.
