Chengdu Sport University CDSU (hereinafter referred to as “CSC”) obtained the approval from China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as “CSC”) for developing the “Local Innovation Sub-program of 2020 Special Program for Talent Training in Western China – ‘Sports and Medicine Integration’ Innovative Talent Training” this year and was granted a subsidy of about CNY 6 million by CSC for cultivation of teachers in the fields of physical education and sports medicine in CDSU.
The program was led by Shu Weiping, Deputy Secretary of the CDSU Party Committee and President of CDSU. The application was written and submitted by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, and a defense team was formed under the leadership of Pan Xiaofei, Deputy Secretary of CDSU Party Committee, with members from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Department of Personnel and the Department of Sports Medicine and Health. The defense team was led by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education to participate in the program defense meeting online organized by CSC on December 10, with approval received. CDSU is one of two universities that received approval for this program among all colleges and universities in Sichuan Province.
With this program, CDSU will send 10 teachers in the fields of physical education and sports medicine to Springfield College in the United States, Ithaca College in the United States, University of Freiburg in Germany, University of Hamburg in Germany, University of Hamburg in Germany, Bangor University in the United Kingdom and Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism for further study in three consecutive years, which will effectively promote the sustainable development of teachers in this field of CDSU, drive the establishment of an interdisciplinary scientific research and teaching team or “sports and medicine integration”, and boost the construction of professional disciplines.
