At 5 p.m. on April 21 (Beijing Time), Chengdu Sport University (CDSU) and the German University of Health and Sports (Deutsche Hochschule für Gesundheit und Sport, DHGS) met online. The meeting was attended by Mr. Christian Werner, president of DHGS, Ms. Kristina Mesic, assistant to the president, and Mr. Luo Liang from DHGS China Office. The attendees also included Professor Pan Xiaofei, deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) CDSU Committee and President of CDSU, Secretary Zhang Ping from the Academic Affairs Office, CDSU, Professor Liao Yuanpeng, secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Sports Medicine and Health, and relevant staff from the International Office and School of Sports Medicine and Health, CDSU. The meeting was hosted by Ms. Tang Xue from DHGS China Office.
First, Professor Pan Xiaofei delivered a speech on behalf of CDSU and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Christian Werner and his management team as well as the participants from DHGS China Office for their efforts in promoting the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. Then Pan mainly introduced CDSU's history and discipline and major design, especially the development of sports medicine disciplines. As CDSU and DHGS are similar in discipline and major development and highly consistent in talent positioning, he noted, it is hoped that the two sides can have in-depth exchanges and cooperation in rehabilitation therapy, human sports science, and sports rehabilitation, and work to acquire the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China for jointly running a Sino-foreign cooperative school.
Then Mr. Christian Werner said that he was very glad to meet with President Pan online and introduced DHGS's discipline construction and schooling characteristics. Also, he expressed his strong desire to establish a long-term cooperative relationship marked by "research + practice" with high-quality institutions such as CDSU and agreed with Pan on the cooperative project proposed. He hoped that by taking this meeting as an opportunity, the project can be soon implemented.
After that, the persons in charge of related disciplines of both universities discussed project cooperation, scientific research, teacher training, and mutual visits of teachers and students in physical education, sports training, and sports-related traditional Chinese medicine. Both sides said that they will further strengthen communication and exchanges after the meeting and jointly promote the implementation of cooperative projects discussed at the meeting.
At last, President Pan sincerely invited Mr. Christian Werner and his colleagues to attend the 80th anniversary of CDSU this year. President Werner thanked Pan for his invitation and expressed his hope to visit CDSU soon after the outbreak.
During the meeting, CDSU and DHGS leaders signed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation online, marking a milestone of exchanges between CDSU and DHGS and laying a solid foundation for cooperative project implementation.
German University of Health and Sports (Deutsche Hochschule für Gesundheit und Sport, DHGS) is a German university accredited by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
