The Delegation of the University of Southern Indiana (USI) Paid A Visit to Chengdu Sport University

From October 27th to 29th, The delegation of the University of Southern Indiana (USI), including Shelly Blunt, Interim Provost, Emi Zlatkovska, Director of the Center for International Programs, and Renee Frimming, Chair of the Kinesiology Department visited Chengdu Sport University. They toured various schools and sports venues on campus to gain a detailed understanding of CDSU's educational operations. During this period, they participated in the opening ceremony for the class of the 2024 undergraduate cooperative education program on sports economy and management, held talks with the president, and attended the joint committee meeting of undergraduate cooperative education program on sports economy and management. They also successfully signed an inter-university cooperation agreement and jointly unveiled a plaque for the Sports and Culture Exchange Center between the two universities.

On the afternoon of October 27th, the opening ceremony for the class of the 2024 undergraduate cooperative education program on sports economy and management between CDSU and USI was held in the Xingjian Building. USI leaders, including Shelly Blunt, Interim Provost, Emi Zlatkovska, Director of the Center for International Programs, and Renee Frimming, Chair of the Kinesiology Department and Pan Xiaofei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU President, Li Lin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU Vice-President, Yang Fei, Director of International Office, Guo Xinyan, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Zhang Linling, Secretary of the CPC Economics and Management School Committee, Qing Ping, Deputy Dean of the School of Economics and Management, and relevant CDSU personnel of the cooperative education program attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Dean Guo Xinyan.



At the opening ceremony, on behalf of Chengdu Sport University, Vice President Li Lin extended a warm welcome to the leaders, teachers, and students present. He elaborated on the university's development history, educational characteristics, academic majors, talent cultivation, international exchanges, and the progress of the Chinese-foreign cooperative education program. He also addressed the students of the program, hoping that they could make full use of the international resources of the university and the school to become applied research-oriented talents in sports economy and management with "global vision, patriotism, innovative thinking, and excellent qualities," and make outstanding contributions to the development of the national sports cause.


All the teachers and students also watched the USI promotional video. Renee Frimming, Chair of the Kinesiology Department, made a brief introduction to USI, and Emi Zlatkovska, Director of the Center for International Programs, expressed USI's support for the students in the cooperative education program.

Subsequently, the freshmen of the program in sports economy and management at our university interacted with the USI representatives by asking questions in a lively atmosphere.



On the morning of October 28th, Interim Provost Shelly Blunt and the delegation from USI visited CDSU for exchange. Pan Xiaofei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU President, and Li Lin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU Vice-President, met the guests. Yang Fei, Director of International Office, and relevant personnel of the Cooperative Education Program participated.


At the meeting, President Pan Xiaofei sincerely welcomed Ms. Shelly Blunt and the USI delegation. He had an in-depth exchange with Ms. Shelly Blunt on the Chinese-foreign cooperative education program, focusing on curriculum arrangements, teaching staff allocation, teaching methods, student management, and cultural exchanges. President Pan believed that the overall operation of the current cooperative education program between the two universities was good, and the quality of student cultivation was gradually improving. He hoped the two universities could strengthen cooperation by bringing rich foreign curriculum resources and combining multiple teaching forms to promote students' development through cultural exchanges, thus cultivating more high-quality talents with international vision and cross-cultural communication skills.


Ms. Shelly Blunt said that the cooperation between the two universities had achieved remarkable results, and the quality of talent cultivation was constantly improving. The two sides would further deepen cooperation, build the program into a characteristic program, and provide students with a higher-quality educational experience.

In the next stage, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation and explore the potential for cooperation in fields such as human movement science and rehabilitation therapy, so as to promote the further development of the program.




On the morning of the 29th, the 2024 Joint Committee Meeting of the Undergraduate Cooperative Education Program on Sports Economy and Management, jointly run by Chengdu Sport University and the University of Southern Indiana, was held in the Office building. USI leaders including Shelly Blunt, Interim Provost, Emi Zlatkovska, Director of the Center for International Programs, Renee Frimming, Chairof the Kinesiology Department, and Pan Xiaofei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU President, Li Lin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC CDSU Committee and CDSU Vice-President, Li Mingda, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Yang Fei, Director of International Office, Zhang Linling, Secretary of the CPC Economics and Management School Committee, and relative CDSU personnel attended the meeting.


At the meeting, the two sides fully discussed issues such as the dispatch of foreign teachers and the optimization of curriculum arrangements, the management and support for students studying abroad, summer camp projects and cultural exchanges, the integration of curriculum teaching and textbook development, teacher exchange plans, and the development of cultural weeks at the two universities, and reached a consensus.

At the meeting, the signing ceremony of the inter-university agreement and the unveiling ceremony of the Sports and Culture Exchange Center between the two universities were also held.



Ms. Shelly Blunt and the USI delegation also visited the sports venues on campus, learning about each school's educational operations. They expressed their appreciation for CDSU's excellent venue facilities and campus environment.
