On September 30, Mr. Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO), visited CDSU and was appointed as an Honorary Professor of CDSU.
Mr. Vladimir Norov thanked the school for the thorough preparation for his visit and felt the warmth of CDSU. He introduced the current status of the development of the SCO, its recent key activities and its development ideas in education, science and technology, humanities, and personnel training. And he expected that CDSU can actively participate in the above-mentioned fields as a famous domestic sport university. He said he would support the exchange between CDSU and SCO countries to expand the influence of CDSU in the international arena. To promote the SCO series of events and activities in Chengdu, he expressed his willingness to develop closer and deeper cooperation with the school, and to keep working for the common vision of both sides.
Professor Liu Qing, secretary of CDSU party committee, and professor Shu Weiping, deputy secretary of CDSU party committee and president, introduced the development of the school to the guests and exchanged views on the proposed cooperation between the two sides. CDSU hope to strengthen communication and exchanges with universities of SCO member countries and carry out substantive cooperation in intercollegiate cooperation, cultural exchanges, personnel training and sports events and other areas. And within the framework of the SCO, relying on the school's characteristics in Wushu, sports medicine and sports culture, CDSU will build higher platforms such as the SCO Sport Culture Art school to promote multilateral cooperation and exchanges.
The guests watched the traditional Chinese sports performance brought by the School of Art and School of Wushu of CDSU—Six Arts Bring Glory to China and visited the Museum of CDSU and the Institute of Sports Medicine and Health. Mr. Vladimir Norov said emotionally, "In a short period of time, I have seen the display of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and the special discipline of CDSU, which allowed me to see the school's positive contribution to the transmission of traditional Chinese culture and its achievements in the 78 years of schooling. The youth are the future of the world and the carrier of cultural dissemination, I wish you all success in your studies and work!"
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, founded in Shanghai on June 15, 2001, is the first permanent intergovernmental international organization named after a Chinese city. The SCO currently has eight member States (the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan); four observer States (Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan and Belarus); and six dialogue partners (Sri Lanka, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal). The SCO holds formal talks between the heads of State of its member States once a year and regular talks between the heads of Government, which are held alternately in the member States.
